Student Speaker Contest

Student Speaker Contest The Student Speaker Contest has been sponsored by the Lions Clubs of California and Nevada since 1937.

The contest provides an opportunity for competitive public speaking among students on a subject of vital interest to the contestants and to the American people as a whole.

The contest is also designed to stimulate self-expression and independent thinking.

Through the Student Speakers Contest, the problems surrounding the maintenance of this commonwealth as a free nation are presented to the public. The contest focuses upon considering the means at our disposal for meeting the present and future world problems.

All interested persons, including speech coaches, are invited to submit topics suitable for presentation as the topic for the succeeding year.

It is the opinion of the Student Speaker Committee that all interested students have worthy ideas, and the Committee will gladly accept all suggestions.

All proposed suggestions are considered by the Committee and the District Chairman. Topics considered by them are then submitted to the District 46 Student Speaker Foundation who makes the final selection.
